Huberty, Carl J. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1975
An empirical comparison is made of three proposed indices of relative predictor variable contribution: (1) the scaled weights of the first discriminant function; (2) the total group estimates of the correlations between each predictor variable and the first function; and (3) the within-groups estimates of the correlations between each predictor…

Huberty, Carl J. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1972
It is shown that in the special case of just two criterion groups the predictor variables may be equivalently ordered (with respect to contribution to prediction or discrimination) by the univariate F-ratios and by estimates of the predictor versus the linear discriminant function correlations. Huberty, Carl J.; Hussein, Mohamed H. – Journal of Experimental Education, 2003
Studied problems in reporting the use of predictive and descriptive discriminant analyses through an examination of 20 such analyses published from 1998 to 2000. Findings show that results were often very mixed and study purposes were typically not very explicit. (SLD)

Huberty, Carl J.; Julian, Mark W. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1995
A subset of a real data set was used to illustrate an ad hoc analysis with missing data on multiple response variables. This strategy was initiated with a complete-case analysis to determine some variables that may be deleted with no loss in effects of interest. (SLD)

Morris, John D.; Huberty, Carl J. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1995
A method is presented for extending full versus restricted model testing to predictive discriminant analysis when the criterion of model accuracy is classification hit rate. An example is presented involving the dropout or school persistence of 76 5th graders, and a computer program for the analysis is introduced. (SLD)

Huberty, Carl J. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1993
Twenty-eight books published from 1910 to 1949, 19 books published from 1990 to 1992, and 5 multiple edition books were reviewed to examine the presentations of statistical testing, particularly coverage of the p-value and fixed-alpha approaches. Statistical testing itself is not at fault, but some textbook presentations, testing practices, and…
