Surveyed residents (n=512) of a Canadian city to examine social stigmatization of tobacco smokers. Found clear evidence of an unfavorable stereotype of smokers. Majority of nonsmokers preferred nonsmokers in roles in which incumbents were likely to be in close proximity. (Author/ABK)
