Coletta, Anthony J.; Gable, Robert K. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1975
Examines the content and construct validity of the Barth Scale. Latent partition analysis generated item content categories for judgmental data gathered from open education experts; factor analysis described constructs generated from response data gathered from open and traditional elementary school teachers. (RC)

Haggard, Ernest A. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
Two types of quantitative Rorschach scales are discussed: first, those based on the response categories of content, location, and the determinants, and second, global scales based on the subject's responses to all ten stimulus cards. (Author/JKS)

Charters, W. W., Jr.; Pitner, Nancy J. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1986
This paper reports on the application of Yukl's Management Behavior Survey in 47 elementary schools. Three problems with the instrument are discussed: (1) lack of response; (2) interrater disagreement; and (3) ceiling effects. The dimensionality of the measure is evaluated through factor analysis. Hamada, Roger S.; Tomikawa, Sandra – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1986
The Windward Rating Scale (WRS), a locally-developed teacher rating scale of student behavior, was evaluated for potential use as a screening measure. Pre-certification ratings of 720 learning disabled students and non-special education students in grades K-6 were analyzed. Psychometric properties and diagnostic efficiency of the WRS were…

Gold, Yvonne – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1984
The responses of 462 teachers, scored separately for frequency and intensity to 22 Maslach Burnout Inventory items, were intercorrelated and subjected to a principal factors solution followed by a varimax rotation. Empirical support was obtained for the hypothosized dimensions: emotional exhaustion; depersonalization; and personal accomplishment.

Piotrowski, Chris; Dunham, Frances Y. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1984
Research on the semantic differential technique has provided evidence for variance in Osgood's formulation of dimensions of connotative meaning. Retest data based on Piotrowski's original sample is reported. Results indicate support for stability and consistency of the Evaluation dimension. Moderate consistency was found in scales comprising the…

Reynolds, Cecil R.; Harding, Richard E. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1983
Six methods of measuring factorial similarity were compared with regard to outcome based on two large data sets, one for an intelligence test and the other for a personality test. All indexes yielded comparable results. Comparing factors determined at random, all indexes yielded comparable results leading to a conclusion of dissimilarity.…

Powers, Stephen; Crowder, Christopher – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1982
The factorial structure of the California Achievement Test subtests appears to consist of only one common factor in each grade. This study indicates that there is considerable overlap among the subtests and that there is minimal support for the use of subtest scores as measures of independent constructs. (Author/PN)

Klein, Alice E. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1981
A factor analysis was performed for two levels of the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS). Results showed that there was essentially one common factor with little evidence that the user would gain much nonredundant information from the 15 scores yielded by the ITBS. (Author/GK)

Favero, Jane; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1979
For a sample of 152 children in grades 2 to 6, interest centered upon concurrent validity of measures of empathy and social sensitivity as conceptualized within the behavioral segment of Guilford's structure-of-intellect model and a criterion measure represented by a standardized test of academic performance. Curtis, W. John; Singh, Nirbhay N. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1997
The psychometric characteristics of the Henderson Environmental Learning Process Scale (HELPS) were studied with 385 parents of school-aged children. Factor analysis provided a conceptually meaningful six-factor solution, but internal consistency reliabilities of scores on three factors were unacceptably low. With some modifications, the HELPS…

Erford, Bradley T. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1997
Reliability and construct and criterion-related validity of scores on the Disruptive Behavior Rating Scale--Teacher Version were studied with 151 teachers of 1,766 elementary school students and 30 teachers of 131 students. Factor analysis confirmed a four-factor structure. Results support the measure's internal consistency and convergent…

Mason, Elizabeth M.; Wenck, L. Stanley – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1989
Cognitive differences between 987 LD children and 178 EH children in public schools on a psychoeducational assessment battery were studied, and differences in factor structure were investigated. Caution is suggested in interpreting the results of multivariate statistical analyses, which indicated heterogeneity in the matrices of LD and EH…

Bachelor, Patricia A. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1989
Whether 12 university students could discriminate validly between the correctness and originality of responses of 150 elementary school children to 3 creativity tests was studied as a determination of the discriminant validity of the tests through the multitrait-multimethod procedure. There was compelling evidence for convergent and discriminant…

Benson, Jeri; Rentsch, Joan – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1988
Confirmatory factor analysis techniques assessed several structural models that have been reported regarding the construct validity of the Piers-Harris Children's Self-Concept Scale. Responses of 885 Black, White, and Hispanic students in grades three-six suggest that the scale's construct validity is a function of content and manner of phrasing.…
