The relationships between egocentrism and certain socialization variables were examined for a sample of first through fifth grade rural children. Reliability and validity data on the Personal Attribute Inventory for Children (PAIC) are reported. The inventory correlated with the Piers-Harris Children's Self-Concept Scale at .32 and had a test-retest reliability of .88 over a four-week span. An alternative way of studying group differences is proposed based on ordering analysis using item hierarchies as a basis of comparison between two groups.
