A meta-analytic review was conducted on published studies examining the relationship between performance on the quantitative and verbal components of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and graduate grade point average. Results suggest that the quantitative and verbal components of the GRE possess minimal predictive validity. (SLD)

The psychometric characteristics of the Job Descriptive Index and other inventories of job satisfaction are examined across a sample of validation studies. The construct validity of these inventories is modest, but this problem can be corrected through proper application of structural equation models. (SLD)

A meta-analysis of the difficulty and discrimination of the "none-of-the-above" (NOTA) test option was conducted with 12 articles (20 effect sizes) for difficulty and 7 studies (11 effect sizes) for discrimination. Findings indicate that using the NOTA option does not result in items of lesser quality. (SLD)

Six sets of data from previous studies are used to investigate the factor structure of the Maslach Burnout Inventory. In all 6 sets, the 22 inventory items divided between 2 clearly replicable factors. The larger, the Core of Burnout Factor, divides in turn into two equally replicable factors. (SLD)

The test proposed by Brien, Venables, and Mayo (1984), endorsed by Silver and Dunlap, and supported by computer software that they developed is not a proper test for multivariate independence. A revised appraisal is suggested for the Silver and Dunlap results. (SLD)
