Delaware Education State Report Card, 2004-2005
Delaware Department of Education
This report, submitted to the U.S. Department of Education, contains summary details of Delaware students' growth in the areas of reading, mathematics, writing, science and social studies. The results reported herein are part of a long-term effort to gather data on Delaware students' educational progress and use the data to inform decisions about instruction. Studied over time, the data will help identify trends and patterns that can be directly related to curriculum and instruction, giving districts and schools additional decision-making tools. The assessment results are reported as Performance Levels, which tell how students are performing relative to the State's content standards. Among the highlights detailed in this report are: (1) The Spring 2005 Delaware Student Testing Program (DSTP) results for reading, mathematics and writing in grades 3, 5, 8 and 10; as well as the Fall and Spring 2004 science and social studies DSTP results for grades 4, 6, 8 and 11 are included, both in the aggregate and disaggregated by different student subpopulations; (2) Accountability ratings for more than 170 public schools, 19 school districts and the State under Delaware's recently revised accountability system are included within the report; and (3) Trend charts displaying student progress on annual state assessments for the past three years compose another segment of the report. (Contains 66 tables.) [For the 2003-2004 edition of this Report Card, see ED498208.]
