Geahigan, Priscilla; And Others – College and Research Libraries, 1981
Cites a new requirement at Purdue University that consideration for promotion and tenure for librarians be based on publications in library/information science rather than other fields in which they may have degrees. Niles, Ann – College and Research Libraries, 1981
Suggests that libraries abandon full cataloging in favor of indexing, using the information provided by micropublishers. While a national index to the contents of microforms would be best, an alternative for local libraries would be to create their own COM (computer output microfilm) index. Twenty references are included. (Author/RAA)

Norden, David J.; Lawrence, Gail Herndon – College and Research Libraries, 1981
Suggests improvement to online catalogs based on a 2 1/2 year study of patron search patterns. Sage, Charles; And Others – College and Research Libraries, 1981
Analyzes queueing statistics to determine their utility in predicting catalog usage and the relationships between card and serials catalogs and to pinpoint peak catalog usage.
