Getting Staff Excited about Assessment
Nord, Leslie Lea
Assessment Update, v16 n6 p9-10 Nov-Dec 2004
At Brown Mackie College, a private junior college in Kansas, faculty members are immersed in student learning on a daily basis and are doing an excellent job of incorporating assessment techniques in their classrooms. However, they depend mostly on administrative staff to help them provide a conducive environment to learning for the students. The challenge for their Assessment Committee has been to find a way to help administrative staff become excited about assessment, feel a part of the process, and understand their roles in helping students learn. In this article, the author describes how the Assessment Committee at Brown Mackie College was able to make its staff become excited about assessment, feel a part of the process, and understand their roles in helping students learn.
