Public Education Primer
Sorace, Danene
Advocates for Youth
To advance sexuality education for students in grades Pre-K through Grade 12, sexuality education professionals must work more closely with public schools. Though this may be stating the obvious, one of the key priorities identified by the Future of Sex Education Project is: the need to build understanding of--and relationships with--the public education community. This primer is a first step in building the understanding of public education within the sexuality education community working to advance comprehensive sex education in public schools. It offers an overview of the existing public education system at the federal, state and local levels and a "roadmap" to understanding how public education policy and delivery works in each state.
