Student Perceptions of On-Line Education
Scherrer, Christina R.; Butler, Renee J.; Burns, Shekinah
Advances in Engineering Education, v2 n2 Sum 2010
The purpose of this research is to study general student perceptions of online education and characterize the differences that exist between various student demographic groups, with a focus on differences between those who have and have not previously taken courses online. We surveyed more than 300 students and analyzed their responses. Although almost every survey participant agreed that on-line courses are more convenient for students, there were significant disagreements and different perspectives about on-line education between the groups. Results from this research can be used to shape marketing and advising efforts for on-line courses and programs.
