Peters, Thomas C.; Bedoya, Rosemary
Teacher Education Quarterly, v22 n2 p117-28 Spr 1995
This study examined letters of reference written about teacher candidates, analyzing potentially damaging statements and looking at authors' and candidates' gender. Results indicated that female recommenders were significantly more apt to include potentially damaging comments in their letters. Female authors were more critical of female candidates, and males of males. (SM)
