Strategies: A Journal for Physical and Sport Educators, v17 n3 p36 Jan-Feb 2004
Many teacher communications with parents consist of those previously or simultaneously communicated to students. Teachers should communicate the physical education curriculum and its goals to parents. They should also convey intended student learning outcomes. Similar to students, parents are then informed of what the school physical education program is attempting to accomplish with respect to their children. In addition, parents are also informed of student progress in physical education toward stated learning outcomes through student progress reports and report cards. This article discusses how parental involvement in education--at home and in the classroom--can be vital to effective learning and discipline and in the process strengthen the teacher-parent relationship.
