Strategies: A Journal for Physical and Sport Educators, v19 n1 p7-11 Sep-Oct 2005
All teachers desire to keep their students on task and focused on meeting lesson objectives. Classroom management, perhaps the most critical factor involved in a lesson's success, includes several considerations. In this article, the authors, who are physical education teacher educators themselves, discuss the five management practices, which they have found to be the most essential techniques for physical education teachers to maintain a well-managed, productive learning environments. These include: (1) Move often; (2) Keep your back to the wall; (3) Visually scan the entire group; (4) Get the big picture; and (5) Interact with sincerity. Furthermore, the intent and effect of each of these five management skills in the teaching-learning environment is presented. (Contains 4 figures.)
