Dribbling a Basketball: Activities for Fun and Improvement
Barney, David; McGaha, Patrick
Strategies: A Journal for Physical and Sport Educators, v18 n4 p7-8 Mar-Apr 2005
Basketball is a great activity. All that is required is a ball and basket. A natural reaction when handed a basketball is to dribble the ball, but in order to be a skilled dribbler, practice is required. Players need drills and activities that will build the confidence they need to play in an actual game. With beginning teachers in mind, this paper describes the drills and activities which are a fun way to get everyone involved regardless of skill level. As they become more proficient in the skill of dribbling they increase their success when playing in a game-like situation. (Contains 4 figures.)
