This article place's Lewis Terman's work in the context of his time and space, in response to criticism of biases against women and certain ethnic groups in his work. The paper concludes that, notwithstanding the unacceptability of his ideas on women and race, Terman's work provides an important foundation for the field of gifted education. (Author/JDD)
