Bruschke, Jon; George, Mary Helen
Journalism and Mass Communication Educator, v54 n3 p65-72 Aut 1999
Attempts to evaluate the value of journalism study for verbal skills and examines the question of whether good students self-select journalism, or journalism makes good students. Finds journalism participation: (1) lowers grade-point-averages (GPAs) of students with low GPAs; and (2) raises scores on the verbal portion of the Scholastic Aptitude Test for all students. (SR)
