Multi-Faceted Mentoring in a Residential College Setting in Southern China
Katrine K. Wong
Journal on Excellence in College Teaching, v35 n1 p21-30 2024
Often discussed as a support system or strategy linked with academic, social, and emotional benefits for its participants, mentorship is conducted in increasingly more diverse forms, and the discussion thereof has gained much traction in multiple domains. In China, mentoring has received increasingly more attention in recent years. Holistic, non-discipline-specific discussion of mentoring in China's tertiary education is an area that is worth exploring. This article introduces a much-needed perspective by offering an account of how multi-faceted mentoring in a non-discipline-specific context at a comprehensive university in southern China facilitates students' personal, cultural, and academic growth and engagement.
