Current Status of Abacus Training in Teacher Education Institutions.

Because of the applicability to blind and visually impaired students, the study surveyed 25 teacher training institutions about the kinds of abacus programs available to trainees and the effectiveness of these programs. On the basis of respondents' statements, the authors concluded the majority of programs were both incomplete and ineffective. (Author)
