A perception among junior social work faculty at one Midwestern university that writing barriers posed a threat to career development led to creation of a writer's guild, a collaborative, nonhierarchical approach to supporting scholarship. The group addresses personal writing difficulties, publication concerns, information needs, grant writing, presentations, and abstract writing. Positive outcomes, both expected and unanticipated, have resulted. (MSE)
