Exploring Epistemologies: Social Work Action as a Reflection of Philosophical Assumptions.
Dean, Ruth G.; Fenby, Barbara L.
Journal of Social Work Education, v25 n1 p46-54 Win 1989
Two major philosophical assumptions underlying the literature, practice, and teaching of social work are reviewed: empiricism and existentialism. Two newer theoretical positions, critical theory and deconstruction, are also introduced. The implications for using each position as a context for teaching are considered. (MSE)
