Recommendation Letters: Whose Voices Do They Represent?
Seipel, Michael M. O.
Journal of Social Work Education, v24 n2 p159-64 Spr-Sum 1988
Content analysis of 266 letters of recommendation for social work graduate school applicants found males more often associated with male stereotype traits and females more often associated with female stereotype traits. This suggests Gililigan's "different voice" theory of gender-based differences in values. Ending this dichotomy is recommended. (MSE)
