Responses from 209 of 1,197 consumer affairs professionals revealed their preference for hiring graduates with academic preparation in consumer affairs or communication. Courses in communication, business, and consumer competencies were considered most important. Only 6% would prefer to hire those with general preparation in family and consumer sciences. (SK)
