The environmental information 454 high school students possessed was compared to their environmental attitudes. Students with more information had more favorable attitudes and also were more willing to express their attitudes. (JP)

A 75-item questionnaire on environmental knowledge and attitudes was given to 454 high school students. Analyzing responses by an item analysis for high and low scoring groups separately aided in identifying misconception held by the two different groups. (JP)

The study used the psychological paradigm of transactional analysis (TA) to classify and develop items for an environmental attitude questionnaire. It was concluded that TA provides a framework from which to structure questions for the questionnaire. (RE)

Educational programs that mainly teach present and past knowledge about energy and the environment are limiting and weak. Stressed is the need to use a problem-solving approach as a base for energy and environmental education and several possible teaching strategies for achieving this goal are suggested. (DC)
