Examined the relationship of friendship quality to adolescent self-esteem over time for seventh and eighth graders (n=279) who completed a questionnaire in fall and spring of a school year. Found that quality and stability of adolescents' friendships are related not only to their self-esteem but also to changes over time in specific areas of self-esteem. (DR)
