Examines whether socioeconomic factors or subcultural factors account for observed ethnic differences in the incidence of first premarital sexual intercourse between Mexican American and Anglo American adolescent women. Results supported the model of subcultural values, and cultural differences relating to premarital sexual activity partially account for the gap. (JPS)
