Two studies used narrative methodology to test prediction that adolescents from more authoritative homes would exhibit greater responsiveness to parents' views than would others. Findings showed a significant positive correlation between reports of authoritative parenting and clearer appropriation of parental voice as rated from students' narratives. More advanced identity status related positively to level of parent voice in stories. (Author/KB)
