Journal of Adolescent Research, v18 n2 p112-30 Mar 2003
This study investigated hypothesized relationships among identity process, content, and structure with youth in the United States, Finland, and the Czech Republic. Findings indicated that youth who used an informational identity processing style had well-structured identities rooted in personal self-elements. Youth using a normative processing style had well-consolidated identities but ones anchored in collective self-elements. Youth using a diffuse/avoidant processing style lacked firm identity commitments and emphasized social self-components. (Author/KB)
