Studied the impacts of policy change on academic identities in the United Kingdom in two empirical studies: a three-country study of higher education reforms involving interviews with academics in seven disciplines and a study of the United Kingdom Foresight program, with interviews with scientists. Concludes that academic identities remained surprisingly stable in the period under study. (SLD)
