Q-Sort Assessment of Child-Teacher Attachment Relationships and Social Competence in Preschool.
Mitchell-Copeland, Jennifer; And Others
Early Education and Development, v8 n1 p27-39 Jan 1997
Observed 62 children in 10 preschools and day care centers, and their interactions with their mothers (at home) and with teachers and peers (at school). Teachers rated children's social competence; children rated one another's likability. Regression analysis suggested that quality of child-teacher attachment relationships relates to prosocial behavior, teacher-rated social competence, and (when maternal attachment is insecure) emotional positivity.
