Reflection on Parent Engagement during School Closures Due to the Pandemic
Greimel, Andrea
Dimensions of Early Childhood, v48 n2 p6-7 2020
The pandemic has required a huge shift in the locus of responsibility for the ongoing engagement of children (especially young children and children with special needs) with the educational process. Parents now share with professional educators, in a fairly equal division of labor, the responsibility to keep children engaged in learning. Of course, there is great diversity among parents in their ability to engage in these new and sudden conditions for schooling given the wide range of life situations. In this article, the author reflects on experiences with parent engagement during the pandemic.
