Stop the Bullying: A Handbook for Schools.
Noting that bullying in school is a growing concern in Australian communities, this handbook draws upon a 10-year study of bullying in Australian schools and is designed to help educators find out what is happening in their school and develop sound anti-bullying policies. The handbook also provides guidance in working effectively with students to gain their support in stopping bullying, dealing constructively with children who bully others, supporting children who are victimized by peers, and enabling teachers and parents to work together to stop bullying. Following introductory material, the handbook is presented in two major sections. Section 1, "Understanding Bullying," presents information on the process of bullying, the context of bullying, victim types, and reasons for bullying. Section 2, "Action To Counter Bullying," contains information on setting goals, educating the school community about bullying, developing an anti-bullying policy, providing roles for students, accessing resources, helping victims and bullies, and working with parents.
