Moderator Role of Self-Esteem on the Relationship between Life Satisfaction and Depression in Early Adolescents
Civitci, Asim
Emotional & Behavioural Difficulties, v15 n2 p141-152 Jun 2010
In this study, the moderator effects of global self-esteem on the relationship between life satisfaction domains (family, friends and school) and depression in early adolescents were examined. The participants consisted of 255 students, aged from 11 to 15 years, from three junior high schools in Turkey. Data were collected using the Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale, the Multidimensional Students' Life Satisfaction Scale, and the Children's Depression Inventory. Results indicated that self-esteem moderated the relationship between depression and family satisfaction, but not between depression and friend satisfaction and school satisfaction.
