The Importance of Perceived Duration: Loneliness and Its Relationship to Self Esteem and Academic Performance.
Ginter, Earl J.; Dwinell, Patricia L.
Journal of College Student Development, v35 n6 p456-60 Nov 1994
Investigated relationship between loneliness (duration), self-esteem, and performance in academic assistance courses for high-risk students. Frequency and intensity of affects of loneliness correlated inversely with self-esteem. Self-esteem did not correlate with achievement (GPA) in courses. Frequency of affects of loneliness positively correlated with achievement and accounted for approximately 24% of variance. (Author/BF)
