An Evaluation of the Science Education Component of the Cross River State Science and Technical Education Project

The Cross River State Science and Technical Education Project was introduced in 1992 by edict number 9 of 20 December 1991, "Cross River State Science and Technical Education Board Edit, 20 December, 1991", with the aim of improving the quality of science teaching and learning in the state. As the success of the project depends essentially on effective implementation, there is a need for its evaluation after over twelve years of implementation. This article is an outcome of an investigation on the impact of the project on teachers' instructional patterns, the status of resources, students' attitude to science and achievement in the three basic science subjects (biology, chemistry and physics).
