The library science job market is competitive, and library and information science (LIS) students and new graduates often have questions and concerns about how to engage in a successful job hunt. Based on research with employers and interactions with students and alumni, the author offers advice for job-seekers looking for public services positions. The article includes an overview of the general skills and qualities sought by employers for public services candidates, as well as advice on resumes and cover letters, and preparing for the interview.
