Is marketing an expense or an investment? Most accountants will claim that marketing is an expense, and clearly that seems true when cutting the checks to fund these efforts. When it is done properly, marketing is the best investment. A key principle to Smart Marketing is the Investment Paradigm. The Investment Paradigm is understanding that every dollar properly "expensed" (really invested) in marketing creates "income." Marketing for schools is just as important as marketing for business. Every school has products that have been developed, created, staffed, and now must be marketed to prospects before a sale can be made. Investing properly in marketing is a critical strategy to create income to offset funding cuts, which are inevitable. This document briefly explains the Investment Paradigm and how it relates to marketing for schools.
