Journal of Physical Education, Recreation & Dance, v83 n9 p15-18, 35 Nov-Dec 2012
There are many key players in a functional school-university partnership. The purpose of this article is to provide insight into the establishment of roles within a school-university partnership charged with creating educational reform. Specific details are provided about three key change agents (the Wizard, the Warrior, and the Wagoner) who collectively helped attain the goals of a Physical Education for Progress (PEP) grant focused on curriculum and behavior change in one Midwest high school. The Wizard was an individual who made things happen, when others believed they were impossible. The Warrior was driven to succeed and courageously tried anything to achieve the desired outcome. The Wagoner took a slow but steady pace driving toward the goals of the project. This article provides insight into how to foster these roles for a successful school-university partnership.
