The twelve items in this annotated bibliography are entries in the ERIC system concerning communication between principals and teachers, principals and students, and managers and subordinates. Research studies cited center on organizational communications and decision-making processes and structures, the importance of proper leave-taking techniques, factors that influence the quality of communications, and the effect of verbal behavior on school climate. Other articles included emphasize improving a manager's face-to-face skills, increasing the number and quality of personal contacts with students and faculty, breaking down communications blockages, examining sources of communications error, and satisfying subordinates'"higher needs" for involvement.
