Dominican Migration to the United States, 1970-1997: An Annotated Bibliography. Dominican Research Monographs.
Aponte, Sarah
This annotated bibliography provides an overview of the history, development, and representation of the process of Dominican migration to the United States. It examines the causes and consequences of this massive exodus in connection with the economic and political rapport between the Dominican Republic and the United States. It also offers an introduction to the relevant materials, evaluating the existing research on the subject and annotating Dominican migration sources written in English and Spanish. The bibliography includes books, book chapters, occasional papers, articles, unpublished manuscripts, monographs, working papers, and dissertations. As a reference guide to the study of Dominican migration from the 1970s to 1997 (with a 1998 addendum), this work represents the first existing academic tool that attempts to organize the available knowledge on the migratory experience of the Dominican people.
