This module is the fifth of nine modules in the competency-based Missouri Auto Mechanics Curriculum Guide. Seventeen units cover: steering system design; diagnosing steering systems problems; inspecting and replacing steering linkage components; manual and power steering gear service; manual and power rack and pinion steering gear service; power steering pump service and diagnosis; steering column inspection and repair; front suspension system design; suspension system diagnosis and lubrication; servicing conventional front suspension systems; Macpherson strut suspension service; wheel bearing and spindle service; design and operating principles of rear suspension system; air adjustable shock absorbers and electronic suspension controls; wheels and tires; wheel runout and balance; and wheel alignment and steering and suspension diagnosis. Introductory materials include a competency profile and cross-reference table that shows how competencies relate to instructional objectives, job sheets, assignment sheets, and test items. Each unit consists of some or all of these components: objective sheet with unit and specific objectives; cover sheet with content outline and list of references; information sheets; assignment sheets; job sheets; and unit test with answer key.
