Factors Affecting the Quality of Staff Development.
Purcell, Larry O.
A review of the literature concerning the effectiveness and quality of staff development programs focuses on factors that affect the success of such programs. These factors include: individual concerns, training activities, applications, qualifications of consultants, scheduling, strategies, facilities, feedback, collaboration, and outcomes. It is concluded that most successful inservice education provides for active participation and exploration. The way that staff development programs are organized and delivered within an organization influences the effectiveness and accuracy of the content and methodology of what is taught and learned. A 10-page reference list is included. (CB)
