College Student Journal, v51 n2 p279-290 Sum 2017
International students provide economic, cultural, and academic benefits to universities throughout the nation. However, many international students lack the support necessary to be successful and satisfied with their education. In order to determine international students' perceptions of their university experience, an online survey was emailed to the entire international population of 862 students at a Western university. We found that international students' greatest concerns dealt with financial, health, and language issues. In addition, we found students from East Asia had the greatest difficulty with language and students from non-white areas of the world reported a concern about discrimination. These findings may be able to help universities identify interventions to improve the quality of education for international students and increase their satisfaction and success.
