Attempts to look at the "International Teaching Assistants problem" from a communication perspective. Suggests that one form of intercultural training administered to the audience of undergraduate students results in significantly higher ratings of the nonnative speakers of English as competent speakers. Suggests that a disclosure statement may also have a positive effect on nonnative speakers' competence ratings. (SC)
