Reported in this conference proceedings are educational activities related to mathematics education from several countries. The conference was devoted primarily to two major topics closely connected with the University of Chicago School Mathematics Project (UCSMP): (1) Development of an applications-oriented mathematics curriculum for all students; and (2) innovative instructional strategies applying new technologies and research findings. Papers presented are organized into the following categories: (1) School Mathematics Education Worldwide (13 papers); (2) General Principles, Curriculum Design, and Instructional Strategies (14 papers); and (3) Technology-Supported Learning (9 papers). Thirty-six foreign and American mathematicians and educators presented papers and participated in panel discussions. (RH)
