An Annotated Bibliography Concerning Children of Divorce: Meeting Their Needs in the Elementary Classroom.
Neely, Elaine M.
Entries in this annotated bibliography are divided into three sections: (1) an overview of information about the effect of divorce on the parent and child; (2) a review of studies and literature pertaining to the impact of divorce on elementary school students; and (3) a review of literature suggesting guidelines, activities, and techniques for teachers to use in helping the child of divorce adjust. The second section focuses on literature concerning the effects of divorce on self-concept, behavior, and academic achievement. The third section addresses the importance of teacher attitudes and teacher-parent relationships. The bibliography provides a glossary of terms, a summary, conclusions, and recommendations. A list of fiction, nonfiction, and picture books for use in bibliotherapy with children of preschool, elementary, and middle school age is appended. (RH)
