This manual serves as an energy conservation reference and management guide for school districts. The School District Energy Program (SDEP) is designed to provide information and/or assistance to school administrators planning to implement a comprehensive energy management program. The manual consists of 15 parts. Part 1 describes the SDEP; Parts 2 through 14 contain information that address different aspects of School District Energy Conservation: (1) Conservation Guidelines; (2) The Role of Administration; (3) Data Collection for Energy Conservation; (4) Energy Management Systems; (5) Operations and Maintenance for Energy Conservation; (6) Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Controls; (7) The Custodian and Energy Conservation; (8) Preventive Maintenance; (9) Role of the Teacher; (10) Transportation Energy Conservation; (11) Public Utilities: Demand Side Management; (12) Building Life Cycle Cost; (13) In-house Incentives Program; and (14) Available Resources. Part 15 includes a glossary of commonly used energy terms and four appendices which describe data collection; operations and maintenance audits; transportation energy conservation checklist; and performance contracting.
