Linda and Larry in Lollipopland. Teacher's Guide [and] Student Material.
Hatfield, Jean
A unit on manufacturing and consumerism for fourth grade social studies classes is presented. The unit, organized around a learning center approach, is composed in story form with cartoon illustrations. Objectives are to define the terms consumer, producer, goods, services, resources, and labor; explain what manufacturing is; and describe the steps of the manufacturing process. Students calculate the amount of resources needed to set up a lollipop factory and to construct and set up a lemonade stand. They also play a lollipop game. The guide includes a materials needed list, objectives, a sample student record sheet, reproducible pre- and posttests and worksheets, and directions for the lollipop games. Approximate class time is four to six hours. (KC)
