Visuals, Path Control, and Knowledge Gain: Variables that Affect Students' Approval and Enjoyment of a Multimedia Text as a Learning Tool
George-Palilonis, Jennifer; Filak, Vincent
International Journal on E-Learning, v9 n4 p463-480 Oct 2010
As graphically driven, animated, interactive applications offer educators new opportunities for shaping course content, new avenues for research arise as well. Along with these developments comes a need to study the effectiveness of the individual tools at our disposal as well as various methods for integrating those tools in a classroom setting. This study focuses on the intersections between Web usability, interactive information graphics, and the effects of both on student enjoyment, engagement, and perceptions of learning through the lens of a multimedia text driven by graphic animations and audio.
