The contemporary school business administrator must be knowledgeable in a wide variety of areas. This book was designed to serve as a basic reference for practicing school business administrators as well as a text for graduate courses in school business administration. It offers a comprehensive overview of school business management. Chapters 1-3 present an introduction to the field, legal context, and taxation of public education. Chapters 4 and 5 present information on management theories and strategic planning. The sixth and seventh chapters summarize fiscal equity challenges and legal liability. Chapters 8-12 discuss personnel issues, collective bargaining, reduction in force, accounting, and school district budgeting.
