The Transformative Nature of Peer Ministry Programs at Catholic Colleges and Universities: Present Realities
Wolf, Helen M.
Journal of Catholic Higher Education, v33 n2 p237-259 Sum 2014
Peer ministry is often a vital component of campus ministry offices at Catholic colleges and universities. In order to determine the effectiveness of peer ministry in contributing to a student's faith development as well as her or his abilities to integrate faith intentionally and reflectively into everyday life, data were collected from surveys of two sample populations from the 117 peer ministry programs at Catholic colleges in the United States from October 2012 to February 2013. The data revealed (1) features of current programs, (2) the effectiveness of peer ministry in contributing to the faith development of peer ministers and their peers, and (3) areas of concern that underscore the need for an intentional, religious educational plan for peer ministry programs.
